Skyrmion - as an example of a topological model in field theory

We discuss the use of topological models in field theory within the thesis presented. In particular, an example of the application of a Skyrmions is considered. Basic geometrical sense of topological concepts such as winding number and homotopy classes is explained. Obtaining Skyrmion solution in Quantum Hall Effect is reported as an example.
