Landau-Zener tunneling of solitons

Energy level crossings have been of continued interest in physics, beginning with early analyses of the Born-Oppenheimer approximation, upto present day applications to production of ultra cold molecules and the understanding of quantum phase transitions. In this report I speak about physical content of Landau-Zener tunneling and consider its mechanical analogy: Landau-Zener tunneling of solitons in two weakly coupled Fermi-Pasta-Ulam chains. By regarding nonlinear members of interaction it will be shown how the symmetry of this process is disordered. Together with analytical calculations, there will also be graphical results of numerical simulations.
