The paper deals with database structures in information systems, their creation, storage and issues of use. Reviewed is the importance of creating the database correctly, what disadvantages may occur with the incorrectly assembled database structure. The existing relational connections between the tables and the differences between them are defined. The ways and means of data storage optimization are mentioned, to avoid nonoptimal data storage and then their incorrect processing. It is well shown why one should use MS SQL Server and what are the advantages of its’ usage in different viewpoints. Detailed aspects of MS SQL Server database are discussed, such as efficiency, security, availability and magnitude. The use of databases in web technologies is described. The validity and efficiency of data base processing and data analysis process are discussed. The paper also includes database structure created within the master's thesis and describes the tables with their attributes, which are created and used to perform a specific task.
